Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: August 26, 2026
The short version
PA Angler Report does not use developer-operated servers, accounts, advertising, analytics, or location history. The extension processes the active Google Maps water location to produce a fishing report and requests weather from the National Weather Service. Recent public API responses are cached only on the user's device.
Information the extension handles
- Active Google Maps context: the URL and page title of the active Google Maps tab when the user opens or refreshes the extension.
- Map location: latitude and longitude contained in the Google Maps URL. These coordinates are used to match a supported Pennsylvania water and request its weather forecast.
- Public environmental data: National Weather Service forecasts and, where configured, USGS water-gauge measurements.
PA Angler Report does not request a user's name, email address, account credentials, payment information, health information, personal communications, or complete browsing history.
How information is used and transferred
The information above is used only to provide the extension's fishing report.
- The active Google Maps URL and title are processed locally in the browser to identify the displayed water. They are not sent to the developer.
- The matched water's coordinates are sent over HTTPS to the National Weather Service at
api.weather.govsolely to retrieve the forecast for that location. - For waters with a configured gauge, the extension sends a public, predefined gauge identifier to the U.S. Geological Survey at
waterservices.usgs.gov. The Google Maps URL and title are not sent to USGS.
No information is sold. Information is not transferred for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to the fishing report.
Local storage and retention
National Weather Service forecasts and USGS measurements may be cached using Chrome's local extension storage to reduce repeated requests and provide a short-lived fallback during service interruptions. Cached responses are considered stale after 30 minutes. The developer cannot access this local cache. Chrome removes extension storage when the user uninstalls the extension.
